NOTICE VERSION: BCE-PRIVACY-V3-2026-07-22
Privacy, in plain language.
Bass Coast Energy is operated by Joseph Williams. This notice explains how information submitted through this website is handled. We follow this notice and the Privacy Act 1988 where it applies.
What we collect
The review form collects the path you select (check an existing quote or price a BCE system), your name, email address, optional phone number, property address and postcode, property type, customer-reported existing-system and electrical-supply details, the words you enter and a dated consent receipt. For security and rate limiting, we create a one-day cryptographic hash from the submitting IP address. We do not store the raw IP address in the intake record.
Why we collect it
We use the information to respond to the review you requested, locate the property for a preliminary review, decide what evidence would be useful, maintain a receipt of the request, prevent duplicate or abusive submissions and improve the service using de-identified operational measures. Customer-reported electrical details remain unverified until the responsible professional checks them.
Marketing is separate
Occasional marketing updates are optional. The marketing box is not pre-selected. If you opt in, each commercial electronic message must identify the sender and provide a working unsubscribe path. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
Installer introductions are separate
Submitting the form does not authorise Bass Coast Energy to send your personal information, bill or property record to an installer. If an introduction becomes useful, we will explain who would receive the information and ask for separate consent before it is shared.
When a system progresses
If you later ask Bass Coast Energy to prepare or deliver a system, the applicable quote, consent or contract will identify the information needed by the named designer, registered electrical contractor, accredited installer, network service provider, supplier or other delivery participant. Website-enquiry consent alone is not treated as authority for that later disclosure.
VenomFlow
VenomFlow provides operating-system services used to organise evidence, actions and review receipts for Bass Coast Energy. It acts as a service provider to the workflow and is not permitted to sell your personal information or distribute it independently.
Storage and retention
Website intake records are stored in a private server directory outside the public website. Access is restricted to the operator and authorised service providers. Intake records that do not become an active commercial matter are scheduled for deletion after 24 months. Records connected with quotes, contracts, transactions, warranties, disputes or legal obligations may be retained for the applicable business or legal period.
Access, correction and deletion
You can request access to, correction of or deletion of your intake information by submitting a new review request and writing “privacy request” in the message. We will verify the request before changing or releasing personal information.
Security and incidents
No internet system is risk-free. We use access restrictions, form validation, rate limits, non-public storage and activity receipts to reduce risk. If an incident creates a likely risk of serious harm, we will assess notification obligations and take reasonable containment steps.
Questions or complaints
Use the website review form and write “privacy question” or “privacy complaint” in the message. We will acknowledge and investigate the issue. If you are not satisfied and the Privacy Act applies, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
